What are your office hours?
1. Affordable Comfort is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Our qualified technicians also offer emergency services 24hrs 7 days a week.
What does a service charge consist of?
1. The travel time to location. Residential rates: $65.00 then $18.50 per 15 minutes. Commercial rates: $95.00 then $23.75 per 15 minutes. Affordable Comfort’s human resources team will gladly assist in any further questions concerning fees.
What goes along with the assessment fee?
1. Our assessment fee allows our experienced technicians to visit the residence or place of business and identify the problem area within your system. After diagnosing the problem a quote will be given for the necessary replacements or repairs to your unit. The quoted price is calculated by the cost of materials/supplies, the length of time it takes to complete the job.
How often should Furnace/AC Units be serviced?
1. Furnace/ AC Units should be serviced during the winter heating season and before the summer cooling season to ensure the systems are operating properly. Maintaining your system will save you money on energy costs, and also preventative maintenance will help your system last longer. Preventative maintenance may include the following:
  
  • Tightening electrical connections
  • Checking refrigerant charge
  • Cleaning indoor/outdoor coils
  • Cleaning drain lines and pan
  • Inspecting and adjusting burner
  • Measuring temperature differential at supply and
  return registers
  • Checking ductwork for leaks and insulation
  • Cleaning blower wheel and motor
  • Checking thermostat
  • Checking supply voltage and operating current
  • Checking heat exchangers
What is Efficiency?
1. The efficiency of a furnace is measured by using a rating known as AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency). AFUE tells you how efficiently the furnace transfers fuel (gas or oil) into heat. An AFUE of 90% means that 90% of the fuel energy heats your home or office, while the other 10% goes outside.

What does my Warranty cover?
1. The warranty covers the manufacturers suggested warranty coverage. An extended warranty may also be purchased.
When should I replace my Furnace/AC Unit?
1. A furnace/AC unit should be replaced every 15-20 years, depending on the technician that services the unit.
What size Furnace/AC Unit do I need for my home?
1. A precise way to determine the accurate capacity of heating and air conditioning systems
  for your home is to have a load calculation performed. This calculation will give you the heat gain and heat loss stats for your home. The following elements determine the size system your home requires:
  
  • The number of people in your home
  • The direction your home faces
  • Humidity
  • Climate
  • Insulation
  • Number of windows
  • Heat producing appliances
  • Square feet to be cooled and heated
Why is a load calculation important?
1. A load calculation determines the accurate size system for your home. The importance of this calculation is so that your system operates at maximum efficiency, with first rate performance. If your system is to large for your home the cost of energy will be greatly effected.

What are sealed Ducts?

1. The best thing you can do is to remove as many of the particles from your home’s air as you can.
What’s the importance of having a matched system?
1. Match systems are important because of its efficiency. Many systems are too large for the home, causing energy costs to be high because customers are paying to heat and cool space that doesn’t exist. When all your systems are accurately sized to your home, you can control your own heating and cooling comfort ability. Also a properly sized match system allows every component to perform as designed, humidity is controlled, and system sound is minimized.
How much is a brand new AC Unit?
1. It depends. The following factors must be determined:
  
    • The size of your home
    • The efficiency of the system
    • Do you need a thermostat or electronic air cleaner
    • Is the ductwork installed and in good condition
  
  In most instants replacing your entire system, including both indoor and outdoor equipment will be more energy efficient, and a longer lasting system.
What will help control the humidity in my home?
1. The most effective way to control humidity in your home is to have a variable speed air-handling system running at low speeds. This system keeps the air circulating against the cooling coil and removes more moisture than conventional systems.
When should I replace my filters?
1. Filters should be changed every month when system is operating. Make sure filters are replaced with the same brand and size as the original filter.
Can I cover my outdoor system in the winter?
1. This is not necessary because Air Conditioning units are manufactured to withstand all climate changes.
How much will my new system cost?
1. That depends. There are many factors that must be considered. These include but a not limited to:
  
    •The efficiency of the equipment
    •The size of your home or office
    •Is the ductwork installed and in good condition?
    •Do you need a thermostat or electronic air cleaner?
  
  Replacing your whole system, including both indoor and outdoor components, will result in a more efficient, longer lasting system, however depending on the manufacturer this could increase the cost.
